Parliament: Battle of the sexes

Some news that caught my eyes on Bernama.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has no plan to create a special ministry to care of men’s interest though there are cases of men being abused and exploited by women, The Dewan Negara was told yesterday.

Women, Family and Community Development Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said so far the government saw there were more issues involving women’s welfare and they needed more protection than men.

“Cases of men being abused by women are negligible compared to women mistreated by men. So, it is better to have a special ministry to focus on women’s welfare than that of men.”

“Nevertheless, I admit it is a good suggestion (to set up a specific ministry to handle men’s affairs),” she said when replying to points raised on the ministry ny senators when debating the motion of thanks to the royal address.

The suggestion to set p a special ministry for men was made by Senator Dr. Mohd Paud Zarkashi after expressing his worry over the rise in abused men cases and men who were made “aquarium men” for sex purposes after being exploited by women – Bernama
